Cabin fever: Luxury Alpine chalets
Three lavish winter escapes to suit all holidaymakers, whether your preferred ski style is downhill or apres
Ski holidays are no longer reserved purely for the athletically inclined – Europe's most luxurious resorts have cottoned on to the fact winter escapes should be as relaxing as they are invigorating. With their in-house spas, cinemas and private chefs, these chic chalets are a far cry from the rustic cabins of old.
Ferme de La Corderie, Les Gets, France
Larger groups are well catered for at this exclusive retreat overlooking the ski resort of Les Gets and the slopes of the Portes du Soleil. The recently renovated farmhouse maintains its Alpine charm through wooden beams, floors and panelling, while modern furnishings add comfort and luxury. Three floors take in a large living area, a cinema and a treatment room, floor-to-ceiling windows and sleeping space for up to 14. Outside, a private heated balcony runs the length of the farmhouse and a large terrace with hot tub and music system provides a haven to relax post-piste and take in the remarkable views.
