The daily gossip: A Walking Dead 'companion series' is coming, and more
Five top pieces of celebrity gossip — from Jaden Smith's terrible advice for teenagers to Justin Bieber's Man of Steel prank
1. AMC is developing a "companion series" to The Walking Dead
By month's end, Breaking Bad will be over. And the end of Mad Men is also less than a year away. So clearly, AMC needs to find new hits. Fortunately, the runaway success of The Walking Dead has led AMC to the perfect solution: More zombies! In a statement, the network revealed that The Walking Dead's creative team is developing a "companion show" that will tell an entirely new story set in the same universe. The report adds that the series won't be ready for air until 2015 — because no one will be sick of zombies by then, right? [The Hollywood Reporter]

2. Jaden Smith thinks kids should just drop out of school
Like most 15-year-olds, Jaden Smith thinks he's smarter than all the teachers at his high school. Unlike most 15-year-olds, Jaden Smith has a platform of more than 4.5 million followers to share his ill-conceived views with the world. "If Everybody In The World Dropped Out Of School We Would Have A Much More Intelligent Society," tweeted Smith, whose definition of "Intelligent Society" apparently doesn't include proper capitalization. Because gossip reporting is really just a step away from trading gossip in a middle-school lunchroom, a number of websites have breathlessly reported that twerk-happy pop star Miley Cyrus has unfollowed alleged fiancée Liam Hemsworth on Twitter — an unforgivable act that most have interpreted as definitive proof that their relationship has ended. Neither party has confirmed the speculation, but just to be safe, fans should keep an eye out to see if Cyrus changes their Facebook relationship status to "It's Complicated." [Daily News]

4. No, Justin Bieber is not playing Robin in the Man of Steel sequel
Over the weekend, mischievous rapscallion Justin Bieber tweeted a picture of himself holding what looked like the script to the upcoming Man of Steel sequel with the caption "#robin?" — and the internet had a collective meltdown, because that's what the internet does with casting announcements. But you can put those angry petitions down, comic book fans; the sleuths at ScreenRant have uncovered several pieces of evidence that prove the picture is probably just part of the buildup to a Bieber-starring Funny or Die video — and opening up the tantalizing possibility that the Ben Affleck "casting announcement" was just part of an extended viral marketing campaign for a Punk'd revival. 5. PETA isn't big on Katy Perry's "Roar" video
How can you possibly capture the raw animal power of Katy Perry's "Roar" in video form? If you're the creative team behind the singer's music video, you go for the most blandly obvious option by putting her next to a bunch of wild animals and clocking off early for the day. But while the "Roar" video has amassed more than 65 million views since its debut, PETA is less than amused. In a blistering statement, the organization slammed Perry for putting the animals in "unfamiliar or frightening situations" — like, say, being forced to listen to "Roar" on repeat. [Variety]
