Tip of the week...How to brave the women’s dressing room
Dress for the task; Eat lightly; Take another look
Dress for the task. A woman should enjoy clothes shopping, so bring a good friend and dress right: Wear clothes that pair easily with other items—like a black or white tank and shoes that are easy to slip on and off. Wear a nude bra and Spanx if trying on dresses, and go light on makeup and jewelry. You want to feel pretty; you don’t want to worry about smudges and snags.
Eat lightly. “Never shop on an empty stomach, but don’t have a giant meal beforehand, either.” A snack of almonds and a banana will keep your energy up but help you feel trim.
Take another look. Don’t just use the dressing-room mirrors. Step into the main part of the store for more natural light and a look in another mirror. Put on shoes that suit the outfit: “You need to have a visual for the head-to-toe look.”
