President Obama on Tuesday delivered a forceful speech calling on Congress to overhaul the country's immigration system, declaring, "We're finally at a moment when comprehensive immigration reform is within our grasp." Obama's remarks came a day after a bipartisan group of eight senators released the outline of a reform plan, an effort that Obama praised. "For the first time in many years, Republicans and Democrats seem ready to tackle this problem together."

However, Obama warned that he would take action if Congress failed to act. "If Congress is unable to move forward in a timely fashion, I will send up a bill based on my proposal and insist that they vote on it right away."
