Elisabeth Hasselbeck's Osama bin Laden poem for children

"The View" co-host shares a poem that she (jokingly) says she would use to tell her kids about the terrorist's death

The video: The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck has come up with a way of explaining Osama bin Laden's death to her three young children if need be: poetry. On Wednesday's episode of the ABC talk show, Hasselbeck jokingly recited a couple of couplets that she had composed:
"Osama Bin Laden was a very bad guy,
He hurt many people, don't ask me why,
We shot him in the head and now he is dead,
Now close your eyes and go to bed."
The reaction: "Do we smell a children's-book deal?" asks Sarah Frank in New York. "In light of all the intense conversation" surrounding the bin Laden killing, says Joseph Giannone at Cinema Blend, "it's nice to see that people still have a sense of humor." Adds Richard Lawson at Gawker: It's actually entertaining—"in a queasy-making way"—to hear such a "noted wordsmith" and "political scholar" as Hasselbeck "trill about people getting shot in the head." This approach makes sense, says Liz Kelly Nelson at Zap2It, because Hasselbeck is "a model of modern conservative motherhood." But we have to wonder when her kids will "be old enough to understand that mom is kind of inappropriate." Watch Hasselbeck read her poem:
