9-year old saves 2-year-old sister
Tristin Saghin, 9, knew just what to do when his 2-year-old sister was found floating unconscious in the pool at his grandmother’s house in Mesa, Ariz. After the toddler was pulled from the water, Tristin started to perform chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation as his mother called for help. “I just went running outside and I did CPR on her. I knew what I was doing,” said Tristin, who said he learned the lifesaving technique while watching television. His sister started breathing again, and doctors said she would be fine. “She’s really beautiful,” Tristin said, “and I love her very much.”

Book dealer Ken Sanders was dubious when a man showed up at a charity event with an old book wrapped in plastic. But it turned out to be a partial copy of the 500-year-old Nuremberg Chronicle, one of the earliest books printed after Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. “I was flabbergasted,” Sanders said. “You don’t expect to see one of the oldest printed books in the world pop up in Sandy, Utah.”
Cabdriver Alam's $5000 fare
New York City cabdriver Mohammed Alam got the fare of a lifetime: $5,000 to drive New Jersey residents John Belitsky and Dan Wuebben from New York to Los Angeles. The six-day journey was Belitsky’s spur-of-the-moment idea for a birthday adventure. Alam, for his part, was able to live his childhood dream of seeing Universal Studios. “Nothing is impossible in this world,” said Alam. “We can do everything, whatever we want.” Belitsky said the cabbie might have enjoyed the trip even more than he did.
