Why Lady Gaga avoids sex
Lady Gaga is usually too busy to meet anyone and she believes that sex diminishes her creative powers.
Considering her flamboyant, sexualized public persona, Lady Gaga has some surprising ideas about sex, says Lisa Robinson in Vanity Fair. The 24-year-old singer (born Stefani Germanotta) may be known for her raunchy videos and outfits and for her self-proclaimed bisexuality, but she insists her reputation for promiscuity is undeserved.
Not only is she usually too busy to meet anyone, she says, but she believes that sex diminishes her creative powers. “I’m afraid of depleting my energy,” she says. “I have this weird thing that if I sleep with someone they’re going to take my creativity from me through my vagina.” Her eccentric creativity, she believes, is a direct gift from God. “I used to pray every night that God would make me crazy. I prayed that God would instill in me a creativity and a strangeness that all of those people that I loved and respected had.”
Her prayers have been answered—she has sold millions of records, and earned $62 million last year—but success has come at a cost. “I’m perpetually lonely. I’m lonely when I’m in relationships. It’s my condition as an artist. I prayed for lunacy, and He gave it to me.”
