A former Food Network host has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly attempting to hire three homeless men to kill his wife. Juan-Carlos Cruz, who hosted the show Calorie Commando, allegedly offered to pay the men $1,000 to slit his wife’s throat using box cutters, said TMZ.com. Rather than take him up on the offer, however, the men went to the police, who arrested Cruz this week. If convicted, Cruz could face life in prison. He’s currently being held on $2 million bond.
