Two black South Carolina high school students have won a $150,000 settlement because other black students mocked them for “acting white.” Larry Kobrovsky, lawyer for the plaintiffs, argued that federal law required the school to protect his clients from racial harassment, even though the students were all of the same race. “To do well in school is considered acting white,” said Kobrovsky. “And that is part of why we’re saying that it was racial.”
