Spottedbylocals.com helps travelers experience a “faraway locale like a local.” A series of city blogs tell where “handpicked folks who live and work” in Paris, Berlin, and other places spend their time.
i-escape.com provides travelers with “unbiased, detailed views” of guesthouses, eco-lodges, and private rental properties across the globe. Like a “virtual friend-in-the-know,” the site lets visitors search by destination, interest, or hotel name.
Whatsonwhen.com calls itself the “Local Guide for the International Traveler.” Akin to “a daily guide to the planet,” the site clues travelers in to what’s happening wherever they are—whether it’s a Whirling Dervishes Festival in Konya, Turkey, or the ancient Zoroastrian feast of Yalda in Iran. It also provides all the “pertinent information” about how to get there and gain admittance.
