Alexa Ray Joel, daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, was rushed to a New York hospital this week after swallowing a handful of homeopathic pain pills in an apparent suicide attempt. The pills weren’t dangerous, and the 23-year-old aspiring singer was treated and released after a few hours. A source told the New York Daily News that Joel—whose latest song is titled “Invisible”—was depressed about not having a boyfriend, and has struggled with living in the shadow of her famous parents. Brinkley, in particular, has been very critical of Alexa throughout her life, friends said.
