All men watch porn, according to the a new study. University of Montreal researchers went looking for men who had never been exposed to pornography, but reported being unable to find even one. With "adult" material now apparently ubiquitous in the internet age, should we be worried about the effects of so many people looking at so much pornography?
Porn is perfectly benign: "We couldn't find any" negative effects of watching pornography in our study, says Simon Louis Lajeunesse, author of the University of Montreal study, as quoted on CNET. Our subjects view it 2-3 times per week, but it "hasn't changed their perception of women" or their desire for a "harmonious and fulfilling" relationship.

Porn destroys families: A new study by the Family Research Council finds that porn "corrodes the conscience, promotes distrust between husbands and wives and debases untold thousands of young women," says Dr. Pat Fagan of the FRC, as quoted in the Christian Post. As an addictive "emotional poison," porn leads to promiscuity, abnormal sexuality, marital problems, and divorce. The data clearly show that as porn sales rise, "the marriage rate drops."

Watching porn is fine—but don't fall for its distortions: "I'm a fan of hardcore pornography" and watch it regularly, says Cindy Gallop at TED Talks (via Huffington Post - NSFW). But as an older woman who enjoys sex with younger men, I can see that "there is an entire generation growing up that believes that what you see in hardcore porn is how you have sex." But nearly all porn is "driven by men" and reflects "one world view," ignoring much of the diversity of sexual human experience. It's important to discuss sex openly so young people don't cofuse porn with reality.
