Science cures colorblindness, Skype founders sue Skype owners

GOOD DAY FOR: Christmas merchandisers, after University of Washington researchers said they had used gene therapy to make colorblind monkeys see red and green, a possible first step to curing colorblindness in people, too. About 3.5 million people in the U.S., mostly men, are colorblind. (The Washington Post)

BAD DAY FOR: Biting the hand that fed you, as Swedish Skype founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis are suing eEbay, the company that bought the VoIP service from them for $3.1 billion, for copyright infringement. Friis and Zennstrom's current business, Joltid, claims its accruing $75 million a day in legal damages from eBay. The lawsuit could scuttle eBay’s pending $1.9 billion sale of 65 percent of Skype to private investors. Friis and Zennstrom reportedly made moves last week to buy Skype back. (Reuters)
