The award-winning police drama returns with the first of five new episodes, and resolves two cliffhangers from last summer—Brenda’s (Kyra Sedgwick) answer to Fritz’s (Jon Tenney) ultimatum about a wedding date, and the fate of the wounded Detective Sanchez. The show continues to cleverly blend character comedy with whodunit plots, as Brenda tackles the case of a drug addict whose apparent suicide may actually be murder. Monday, Jan. 26, at 9 p.m., TNT

Trust Me

A Chicago advertising agency is the setting for this promising new series starring Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) and Tom Cavanagh (Ed) in the respective roles of an art director and a copywriter whose creative partnership is disrupted when one of them gets promoted. The show is as mordant about the ad business as Mad Men, but its antic buddy-comedy tone is much different—though, as the pilot episode demonstrates, also valid. With Griffin Dunne. The Trials of Ted Haggard

As head of the 30 million–strong National Association of Evangelicals, Ted Haggard was one of the most powerful religious leaders in America—until a 2006 scandal involving drugs and a male escort brought him low. Alexandra Pelosi’s documentary paints a compassionate portrait of a man and his family contending with disgrace, exile, and reversal of fortune. Thursday, Jan. 29, at 8 p.m., HBO
