Good day for a new president, Bad day for working for peanuts

GOOD DAY FOR: A new president, after auto giant Toyota promoted Akio Toyoda, the grandson the company’s founder, to president; current president Katsuaki Watanabe will become vice chairman. Toyoda, 52, will oversee a company that is on the verge of overtaking GM as the world’s largest automaker, but also posting its first operating loss in 71 years and first drop in annual sales in a decade. BAD DAY FOR: Working for peanuts, after U.S. food producers expanded their recall of peanut butter and other peanut-based products in a broadening salmonella outbreak. Six deaths have been linked to the outbreak, traced to Peanut Corp. in Georgia. The recall includes several brands of peanut butter sandwich crackers and peanut butter cookies. (Reuters)
