Good day, Bad day
A clean fight, The Man
GOOD DAY FOR: A clean fight, after hydrogen fuel cell cars from nine automakers just finished up a first cross-country road race. The 13-day tour included some stretches without hydrogen stations, when the cars were transported on the back of flatbed trucks. Currently there are only about 60 hydrogen stations in the U.S., only two of which are generally open to the public. (Reuters)
BAD DAY FOR: The Man, after tax accountant Charles Ulrich took on the IRS over a tax rule regarding mutual life insurance, and won. A federal court agreed with Ulrich, 72, that the IRS incorrectly taxed some stock transactions from “demutualized” firms. It’s not unusual for people to challenge the IRS, says former agency commissioner Don Alexander, but “most of them lose.” (AP in Yahoo! Finance)
