Good day, Bad day
The Batman franchise, The mighty dollar
GOOD DAY FOR: The Batman franchise, after “The Dark Knight” ruled the U.S. box office for the third weekend in a row, bringing it $48.3 million to fend off “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” which netted $42.5 million in its opening weekend. “The Dark Knight” has earned $394.9 million in the U.S. in 17 days. “Titanic” has the total U.S. box office record, $600.8 million. BAD DAY FOR: The mighty dollar, after McDonald’s said it might raise the price of its $1 double cheeseburger, among other changes to its Dollar Menu, by next year. Locations not wanting to up the price are experimenting by cutting the cheese to one slice, calling it a “double hamburger with cheese,” or holding the cheese altogether. The Dollar Menu has driven McDonald’s growth in recent years. (The Wall Street Journal)
