Longtime political columnist Bob Novak was diagnosed with a brain tumor this week and said he was suspending his work for an indefinite “but, God willing, not too lengthy period.” Last week, Novak, 77, was ticketed by police after he hit a pedestrian with his car and drove away from the scene. Novak said he didn’t realize he’d hit someone until a bicyclist chased him down and stopped him. Victim Don Liljenquist, an 86-year-old homeless man, said Novak was only driving about 10 miles per hour. “He’s a very good reporter,” said Liljenquist. “But as a driver, he wasn’t paying attention.”
