A mom at 62
The week's news at a glance.
Redding, Calif.
A 62-year-old woman gave birth to her 12th child this week, becoming one of the oldest women in the world to bear a child. Janise Wulf, who has been blind since birth, already has 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. But she has only one child, a 3-year-old son, with her current husband, and said she wanted the boy to have a sibling. The new baby, Adam, was conceived through in vitro fertilization. “I think I’m a much better parent now that I’m older,” said Wulf. “Age is just a number.” The oldest woman on record to give birth is a Romanian who had a baby last year at the age of 66.
