Hillary under fire
The week's news at a glance.
Albany, N.Y.
A leading New York Republican has launched a national fundraising campaign with the slogan “Stop Hillary now!” Stephen Minarik, the state GOP chairman, wrote to party members across the country, calling Sen. Hillary Clinton a “radical liberal” and asking for donations to defeat her 2006 re-election bid and keep her from seeking the presidency in 2008. “Stopping Hillary Rodham Clinton is the most important thing you and I can do as Republicans,” he said. “It’s our duty.” Clinton has responded with her own fundraising efforts, in which she tells Democratic donors that she is “the No. 1 target for the right-wing attack machine.”
