Beauty pageant showdown

Atlantic City, N.J.
Two women calling themselves Miss North Carolina arrived in Atlantic City this week to compete in the Miss America Pageant. Rebekah Revels, 24, won the state crown, but resigned in July after an ex-boyfriend told contest officials he had topless photos of her. After the title was awarded to runner-up Misty Clymer, Revels changed her mind. She told a federal judge that pageant officials pressured her to resign even though the pictures were snapped without her knowledge while she changed clothes. A court order will allow both women to compete pending hearings. “We’re hoping the judge will clear things up,” said George Bauer, interim president of the Miss America Organization.
