Rush Hour 3
Los Angeles cops chase members of a crime syndicate to Paris.
This summer we've endured a number of terrible 'œthreequels,' said Kyle Smith in the New York Post. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Shrek the Third were disappointing. But Rush Hour 3 is by far the worst, and probably this summer's laziest movie. 'œChris Tucker is still black, Jackie Chan is still Chinese: What more do you need?' Brett Ratner's action/comedy franchise continues to deal in racist tropes that get less funny and more insulting with each installment. Only this time, Ratner moves the whole show to Paris, where the movie can riff on European stereotypes. Tucker hasn't made a movie since 2001's Rush Hour 2, and for good reason, said Tom Long in The Detroit News. His shrill, 'œone-note approach to comedy is the cinematic equivalent to fingernails scraping across a blackboard.' It's a shame that Tucker gets all the screen time, said Christopher Kelly in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Chan is a real comic talent and, of course, an amazing stunt man. 'œThat the movie isn't totally unwatchable is a testament to the enduring elasticity of Chan, who'”at age 53'”can still leap through the air, contort his body like a rubber pretzel, and outrun performers a third his age.'
Rating: PG-13
