MURDOCHS 'SHOULD LEAVE NEWS CORP BOARD'Rupert Murdoch and his sons James and Lachlan should be ousted from the board of News Corp because the phone hacking scandal has "laid bare a striking lack of stewardship and failure of independence," shareholder advisers ISS said yesterday. ISS wants 10 other directors to go too when shareholders meet on October 21. DOWNING ST: FOX MADE 'SERIOUS MISTAKES'A spokesman for David Cameron said yesterday that Liam Fox had made "serious mistakes" in blurring the line between his professional and personal relationship with his friend Adam Werritty, and that "much tighter procedures" were needed at the MoD. EX-UKRAINIAN PM JAILED OVER GAS DEALThe former prime minsiter of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko, has been jailed for seven years over a gas deal she signed with Russia in 2009. A judge ruled that she abused her power when she signed the agreement that left the country out of pocket. Her supporters say the charges were politcally motivated, Russia's foreign ministry said there was an "obvious anti-Russian subtext". STEVE JOBS' DEATH PROMPTS RECORD SALESThe death of Apple's Steve Jobs prompted record sales of the newly launched iPhone 4S, the company revealed yesterday. More than 1m customers "paid tribute" to Jobs by placing orders in the first 24 hours after his death. Jobs died of respiratory arrest linked to the spread of pancreatic cancer, his death certificate reveals.
