1. ASSANGE MAKES DEFIANT BALCONY SPEECH

Julian Assange appeared on a balcony at the Ecuadorean embassy in London today to speak to the world's media. He demanded that Barack Obama "do the right thing" and drop the US's "witch-hunt" of WikiLeaks. He did not, as some had expected, say that he would be willing to travel to Sweden to face sexual misdemeanour charges if the US complied.
