An 86-year-old retired accountant has become the oldest person in Britain ever to donate a kidney. Graham Sisson was 84 when he decided to give the organ to his son-in-law. Ian Tonks had had a transplant 12 years earlier, but the organ had started to decline in 2018. He was put back on the transplant list in 2019, and when he failed to find a donor, Sisson stepped in. “I’m thrilled to bits to see Ian’s life change,” he said, “but others seem to think it’s a bigger thing than I do.” Tonks said that “no gift in the world” matches what he did.
