A look back at previous royal rendezvous as Joe Biden gears up to visit Her Majesty next month
Joe Biden and his wife Jill are due to meet the Queen after flying into the UK for the G7 summit in Cornwall next month, according to reports.
The Royal Family is said to be planning a “warm welcome for Mr Biden”, says The Telegraph, which notes that Prince Charles and Prince William refused to meet Donald Trump when he came for tea with the Queen at Windsor Castle in 2018.
“The Duke of Cornwall is said to be especially happy that Mr Biden has kicked off his first term with a strong pro-environment policy,” adds the newspaper.
CNN reports that according to an unnamed US official, the White House and Buckingham Palace are finalising details of the meeting, with an announcement expected in the coming days.
Biden will become the 13th US president to meet the Queen since she was crowned in 1953. The only American leader who missed out on the chance to meet the reigning monarch was Lyndon Johnson, who did not visit the UK during his term in the White House, from 1963 to 1969.
