Scientists have said that feeding your dog dry food instead of tinned meat can help to save the planet, reported The Telegraph. After studying almost 1,000 pet diets, experts found that a wet food diet produces almost seven times as much carbon dioxide as a dry food alternative. “These results bring to light the importance of the role of pet food in the discussion of sustainability,” said the researchers from the University of Sao Paulo.
Car manual returned to library 47 years late
A library in the US said a car repair manual borrowed in 1975 was anonymously returned along with an apologetic letter, reported UPI. The Washington County Library System said that Chilton’s Foreign Car Repair Manual: German, Swedish, Italian Cars, Vol. 1, arrived recently via the mail at the Lake Elmo Library. “It’s a little overdue, but I thought you might want it back,” the accompanying letter reads. “My apologies to anyone in Lake Elmo who was working on an old Benz in the last 47 years.”
Judge roasts barrister who travelled to wrong court
A barrister was told off when he travelled to a court 150 miles from where he was meant to appear as defence lawyer because he got the wrong Newport. Brad Lawlor, an Oxford University graduate, was scheduled to attend Newport crown court on the Isle of White — but instead went to Newport in south Wales. Pointing out that the defendant in the scheduled hearing had been brought across the Solent from the mainland for the hearing, the judge criticised the “very unsatisfactory” delay, noted The Times.
