Using your phone as you sit on the loo could give you piles, according to a doctor. Prolonged sitting on the loo is a cause of constipation which can lead to piles, says Dr Sarah Jarvis. “While in the past, some of us took a good book into the toilet with us, these days it’s more likely to be the ever-present mobile phone. So tempting while it may be to scroll through your apps while you’re waiting to perform, doctors don’t recommend it.”

Community service after man farts during strip search

A man has been given a community sentence after farting at police during a strip search. At the station, as he was strip searched and asked to bend over he deliberately broke wind, saying to officers: “How do you like that?” Sheriff Ian Wallace ordered Stuart Cook to carry out 75 hours of unpaid work.
