An Oregon family called in police after their golden retriever dug up a suspicious-looking package from their back garden. Officers opened the package to reveal more than 15 ounces of black tar heroin, with a street value of more than $85,000 (£66,000). Police are investigating the source of the drugs.
Driver hits 17 vehicles trying to park
A suspected drunk driver has collided with 17 vehicles while attempting to park his SUV at a Florida apartment complex. Police say 25-year-old Tony Futch, whose licence has previously been suspended for drink driving, hit the vehicles in eight separate accidents before finally managing to stop his car. He has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Woman stuck in pool turns to Facebook for help
A 61-year-old woman used social media to plead for help when her backyard pool ladder broke, trapping her in the water. The woman, Leslie Kahn, used a pole to drag a pool chair with her iPad on it to the side of the water, then posted to Facebook that she was stuck. A neighbour turned up, followed by police, who removed her from the water.
