Last seen in action on Boxing Day, Ozil has become a fringe player under Gunners boss Emery. The Daily Mirror claims that the Spaniard wants to “part company with Ozil to free up funds for new recruits”.

With the Arsenal defence once more shown up in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham, Emery needs to strengthen his back four. But with money tight the best way to do that is to dump Ozil and his £350,000-a-week wages.

Coady on Emery’s radar

The Daily Mirror is one of several papers to claim that one defender on Emery’s radar is Wolves captain Conor Coady.

The 25-year-old centre-back has been a rock in the Molineux defence this season and although Wolves are keen to tie him down to a new deal, Arsenal and Liverpool are both circling.

There are claims that the Gunners are paying “particularly close attention” to Coady, who was once on Liverpool’s books before being released five years ago.

Like father, like son

Marcus Thuram is following in his old man’s footsteps by taking French football by storm, reports The Sun.

The paper says that the 21-year-old has been tearing up Ligue 1 this season, scoring ten goals in 17 games for unfashionable Guingamp. The Brittany side know they have a diamond on their books and there is interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.

The son of French 1998 World Cup winner Lilian, the young marksman has been scouted by all three clubs this season. He could be the subject of a bid before the month is out.

Suarez latest

The Daily Star has an update on the Gunners’ pursuit of Barcelona star Denis Suarez. According to the paper, he is “one step closer” to joining Arsenal after his agent begged Barcelona to let him leave the club.

The news was broken by a journalist from the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who claims that Suarez wants to join Arsenal “but in this moment there isn’t an agreement between the Gunners and Barca… talks ongoing”.

It’s believed the talks centre on the terms of the deal with Arsenal wanting an initial loan agreement while the Spanish giants would prefer to sell Suarez.
