South Korean boat sinks, killing 1 with dozens missing
A South Korean fishing trawler sank early Monday in the Bering Sea off the coast of Russia, killing at least one South Korean and leaving more than 50 other people missing. "When the fish were being hauled in, the vessel was hit by a wave," explained Artur Rets, the head of maritime rescue at Russia's Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky port. "According to our data there were 62 people on board," he said, and only eight, including the dead man, have been pulled from the water. "The fate of the others is not known." The missing people are from South Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
