It turns out that America is not the only country where people will claw at each other over flat screen televisions. Black Friday — the day when retailers offer large discounts on certain big-ticket items — has spread to Great Britain, where reports emerged of injuries, arrests, and generally appalling behavior at mega-stores across the country.
According to the BBC, "[a] man was arrested in Salford after he threatened to 'smash a staff member's face in,'" while in Middleton nearly 200 shoppers refused to leave a store "despite being told stock had all gone." In Stretford, a woman suffered "minor injuries" after she was struck by a falling television.
