Venice's authorities have clarified that a proposed ban on wheeled items only applies to commercial carts, not wheeled suitcases.

Local authorities said that travelers won't be forbidden from using wheeled suitcases, and they won't receive a $630 fine, as was originally reported.

Vittorio Zappalorto, Venice's special commissioner, issued a statement, saying that while commercial carts contribute to noise pollution and destroy historic pavements, wheeled suitcases aren't part of the ban.
