Deadliest insurgent bombing of the year strikes Afghanistan

At least 50 people were killed Sunday when a suicide bomber attacked a crowd at a volleyball game in eastern Afghanistan, local authorities said Monday. Another 63 people were wounded, many of them children. The death toll was the highest from an insurgent attack in Afghanistan this year. Most of the victims were civilians, although eight members of the local paramilitary police force were among the dead. Read more at AP.
