Poll finds Democrat Kay Hagan leading in $100 million Senate race

Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) has a slight edge in one of the most closely-watched Senate elections of this midterm cycle, according to an Elon University poll released Thursday.
In the survey, Hagan leads GOP challenger Thom Tillis 44.7 percent to 40.7 percent. Poll aggregators give Hagan a slightly smaller lead, which translates into a 72 percent chance she'll hold her seat, per FiveThirtyEight.
On Wednesday, spending in the crucial Senate race topped $100 million, making it the first contest in the country to do so.
