Sen. Mark Udall (D) has been fading in his re-election bid, but two new polls released Thursday should give his campaign a little more hope.
In the final Denver Post/SurveyUSA poll before next Tuesday's midterms, Udall trailed Republican Cory Gardner 46 percent to 44 percent among likely voters, putting the race within the poll's four-point margin of error. And in a PPP survey, the two candidates tied at 48 percent apiece.
There has been a high degree of variance in polls of the race, though Gardner has been trending upward over the past month or so. FiveThirtyEight gives Gardner a 79 percent chance of winning.
