Tea Party Patriots back Sen. Pat Roberts after spending $75,000 trying to defeat him
Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) is getting a last-minute endorsement from a group that months earlier tried to oust him from office.
With one week left until the midterms, the Tea Party Patriots has thrown its support behind Roberts, saying there is "too much at stake not to support" the Republican candidate. It's a sharp reversal from July when the national Tea Party group spent $75,000 on a late advertising blitz attacking Roberts and promoting his GOP primary opponent, Milton Wolf.
Though Roberts held a commanding lead when Democrat Chad Taylor was still in the race, he's now a slight underdog in a two-way contest against Independent Greg Orman.
