South African prosecutors will appeal Pistorius verdict
South African prosecutors are arguing that a five-year prison sentence isn't enough time for Oscar Pistorius.
Pistorius received the sentence last week for culpable homicide in the killing of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. But lawyers from South Africa's National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) are appealing the verdict as well as Pistorius' sentence.
In the current ruling, Pistorius will be eligible for release from prison after 10 months and could serve the rest of his sentence at his home. Pistorius began his prison sentence on Oct. 21.
