Giants beat Royals to take Game 1 of the World Series

With a lopsided score of 7-1, the San Francisco Giants showed that the Kansas City Royals aren't unbeatable in the postseason, taking Game 1 of the World Series in Kansas City. Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner allowed only one run and three hits in his seven innings on the mound. Before this game, the Royals had swept through the postseason with eight straight wins.
"It's been nothing but energy and love this whole postseason," Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer said after the game. "Obviously, it's not the way you want to start the World Series, but there is still a long way to go." Game 2 is Wednesday night.
