Why you should get a flu shot

It's flu season, folks. And thus the time of year to be reminded that flu causes up 500,000 deaths worldwide per year, including tens of thousands in the United States.

Fortunately, there's a vaccine! As Aaron Carroll explains, unless you have an allergy to chicken eggs or a few other rare conditions, you should definitely get vaccinated. Even if you're young and healthy, it may save you a nasty illness (or even death), and more importantly protect the aged and infirm by preventing you from becoming a disease vector. --Ryan Cooper
