Photos: The first night of 'Ferguson October' protests
For four days, hundreds are rallying in Ferguson, Missouri to protest the August police shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager. "Ferguson October" is scheduled to encompass a series of marches and other events, with the focus of the protests on fatal police shootings both in the St. Louis area and beyond.
Organizers told CNN their aim was to "build momentum" for a nationwide discourse on police violence. "Power concedes nothing without a demand," they said.
