An Arizona man was killed Wednesday after Africanized bees from a giant hive attacked him as he did yard work.

The man was working at the home of a 90-year-old with three other people from the Douglas ARC, an organization that finds jobs for people with developmental disabilities. Officials estimate that about 800,000 bees were inside a 3-by-8-foot hive discovered in the home's attic. Authorities did not know how many bees were involved in the attack, or if the homeowner knew that the hive — which could be 10 years old — was there.
