After canceling several concerts earlier this year due to poor health, singer Morrissey announced on Tuesday that he recently went through four cancer treatments. He did not specify the type of cancer.
In typical Morrissey fashion, the former Smiths vocalist bluntly told Spain's El Mundo newspaper, "I have had four cancer-scrapings, but so what. If I die, I die. If I don't, then I don't. As I sit here today, I feel very well."
Morrissey launched a new European tour Monday in Portugal, and told El Mundo he's going to push himself to make it through. "I know I look quite bad on recent photographs," he said, "but I am afraid this is what illness does to the overall countenance. I will save relaxation for when I'm dead."
