Scandal-plagued Louisiana congressman airs TV ad with his wife

Rep. Vance McAllister (R), the Louisiana congressman who got embroiled in scandal earlier this year when he was caught on video kissing a female staffer, has a new campaign ad in which he appears alongside his wife.
"I'm lucky to have been blessed with a great family and a wonderful Christian wife," McAllister says.
His wife, Kelly McAllister, adds: "And I'm blessed to have a husband who owns up to his mistakes, never gives up, always fighting for the good people of Louisiana."

McAllister faces a wide field of opponents in November, most of them fellow Republicans, under Louisiana's unique open primary system: If nobody gets over 50 percent of the vote, the campaign will then continue on between the top two candidates in a special December runoff.
"I think a lot of people want to know where my wife is," McAllister told The Times-Picayune. "We want people to know we're stronger now than we ever were before. She said if we're going to [run again], we're doing it together." Watch the full ad below. --Eric Kleefeld
