During a recent official visit to the Maldives, Chinese president Xi Jinping had some strange advice for his country's tourists: "Eat less instant noodles."

The comments were apparently made in jest, but as The Washington Post points out, they refer to real-life events. Thanks to the ever-present cameras of today, Chinese travelers have recently been documented defecating on airplanes, bathing in the Louvre, and defacing ancient relics. Xi's remarks seemed to be a lighthearted though pointed commentary on such behavior, urging Chinese tourists to "be civilized while traveling abroad."
