Protesters and police clashed again Monday night in Ferguson, Missouri, despite the arrival of National Guard troops. Police came under "heavy gunfire," said State Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson, who blamed "a tiny minority of law-breakers" for the violence. Two civilians were shot, though not by police, and 31 were arrested.

"Not a single bullet was fired by officers despite coming under heavy attack," he added. "It is criminals who throw Molotov cocktails, fire shots, and endanger lives. These are not acts of protesters but acts of violence." Read more at NBC News.
