Yesterday brought bad news for Breaking Bad fans: Better Call Saul, the highly anticipated prequel series centered on shady lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), had been pushed back from its intended November premiere date to sometime in early 2015. Fortunately, the day also brought some good news: when Better Call Saul does arrive, there will be a lot more of it.

In a strong vote of confidence, AMC has renewed Better Call Saul for a second season of 13 episodes more than six months before its premiere. "Production on Better Call Saul is underway and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series," said AMC president Charlie Collier in a statement. "We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on Saul and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures."
