Considering all the controversy surrounding Bowe Bergdahl's return to the U.S., it's not surprising that Hollywood has decided to cash in on the drama.
The sergeant will be the subject of two upcoming films — one by Mark Boal and Kathryn Bigelow, the duo behind Zero Dark Thirty, and one by In the Bedroom's Todd Field that will be based on a Rolling Stone article by the late Michael Hastings.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the production of the two biopics about Bergdahl and the years he spent in Taliban captivity. Time reports that the films won't be direct competitors, though: "Boal and Bigelow's film is said to treat the issue of Bergdahl's release by Afghan forces," while "Hastings' Rolling Stone piece...caters more to the 28-year-old's backstory."

However, Time also notes that neither production team has obtained the sergeant's "life rights," so the details of the movies remain up in the air.
