Avril Lavigne laughs off racism claims

Over the past few days, Avril Lavigne has been slammed for appropriating Japanese culture in her "Hello Kitty" music video, which includes — among its general musical sins — four stoic, identical backup dancers and an extended sequence at a sushi restaurant.

But is the "Hello Kitty" video racist? Not according to Lavigne, who took to Twitter to laugh off the claims:
