The Colbert Report ticks off the Twittersphere
Comedy Central

Nothing gets the Twitterverse going like a little controversy, and this is no exception. The Colbert Report and host Stephen Colbert are coming under fire from people upset over a tweet (now deleted) from @ColbertReport that stated: "I am willing to show #Asian community I care by introducing the Ching-Chong-Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever." Although this was a riff from a Washington Redskins bit that Colbert did on the show Wednesday night (watch the video below), some tweeters were not amused, and started pushing the hashtag #CancelColbert:
The team behind @ColbertReport clarified late Thursday night that Colbert's personal Twitter handle is @StephenAtHome, and that @ColbertReport is a Comedy Central promotional account that he has no control over. Early Friday morning, Colbert himself tweeted:
It remains a mystery who sent out the original tweet, why they waited a whole day after the bit aired, and if anyone even remembers what Colbert was satirizing. --Catherine Garcia
